I found this presentation quite interesting. While I still have a few reservations about xul I'm not going to throw it out the window. I think it could be great for creating applications to interface with your backend. Such as if you have gallery software it could be great for creating a more advanced interface as a stand alone executable.
One thing I'm wondering can you have a remotly hosted xul application which runs in xulrunner and has access to the local file system via some sort of local container, while the bulk of the code resides online? Example would it be possible to say place firefox xul files online and use xul runner to run the browser as if it was a regular local install? If you easily could do remotely hosted applications which run as local applications that would be really cool! Shoot me off an email if you don't mind. |
