XUL is Cool

As you might have picked up from the previous posting, I'll be presenting XUL is Cool at this months Melbourne PHP User Group. The meeting is on one week from today, it's free and everyone is welcome.

I've spent the last week trying to grab what few precious moments of free time I can, to refresh my XUL skills. I've done so by developing a little slideshow viewer based upon XULRunner, which I intend to use to present the XUL is Cool presentation. I'll post a link to the source etc soon. I suppose now, with only a week to go, I should start putting together the actual presentation

So if you're at all interested in XUL or PHP, or you just want a free feed, come along.

I found this presentation quite interesting. While I still have a few reservations about xul I'm not going to throw it out the window. I think it could be great for creating applications to interface with your backend. Such as if you have gallery software it could be great for creating a more advanced interface as a stand alone executable.

One thing I'm wondering can you have a remotly hosted xul application which runs in xulrunner and has access to the local file system via some sort of local container, while the bulk of the code resides online?

Example would it be possible to say place firefox xul files online and use xul runner to run the browser as if it was a regular local install? If you easily could do remotely hosted applications which run as local applications that would be really cool!
