This one is for Alan who heads off to Fukuoka, Japan this week end.

As you might have picked up from the previous posting, I'll be presenting XUL is Cool at this months Melbourne PHP User Group. The meeting is on one week from today, it's free and everyone is welcome.

I've spent the last week trying to grab what few precious moments of free time I can, to refresh my XUL skills. I've done so by developing a little slideshow viewer based upon XULRunner, which I intend to use to present the XUL is Cool presentation. I'll post a link to the source etc soon. I suppose now, with only a week to go, I should start putting together the actual presentation

So if you're at all interested in XUL or PHP, or you just want a free feed, come along.

Testing with Selenium Core - Jason King - 7:15-8:00 pm

Selenium is a javascript based website testing package that allows you
to create tests to determine if your website is functioning properly.

The use of selenium core, and the firefox addon for selenium will be
demonstrated so you will be able to write and run your own tests.

I will also be going through how to get the results of selenium tests,
and store them in a database for future analysis.


XUL is Cool! - Christian Hope - 8:15-9:00 pm

Mozilla's XUL is a user interface markup language used in cross platform applications such as Firefox. XUL is based around a similar technology stack to your every web development, which should make it relatively easy for web developers to pick up.

Christian will be covering the basics of XUL development including how to create Firefox extensions.


Socialising & Networking - 9:00pm onward

After the meeting we'll be moving downstairs to the Cartel Bar, for an informal chat over a few cold ones.
